Type of Time Zones – If each time zone differed by 1 hour, we would only have 24; but we actually have 25 to 29 as many as 45 minutes. If each time zone were one hour apart, there would be 24 time zones in the world. The International Date Line (IDL) creates 3 more distinct time zones. Also, several time zones are only 30 or 45 minutes apart, so the total number of standard time-zones is even more.
Daylight Saving Time Zones
During Daylight Saving Time (DST), your time zone name and time changes. At this point, the word “daylight” is usually included in the name and your local time is usually set forward by 1 hour. In California, they use PDT as opposed to PST. They have some different time zones as well as a difference in how we use daylight savings time depending on what is happening during the year to find type of time zones.
Not the Same as Local Time

When you look at our Timezone map or check out this image, you’ll see how each hour is separated by 15 degrees. Time zone boundaries do not exactly correspond with 15 degree time zones. This is because the same time zones are meant to share borders with both domestic and international borders. It is natural to expect that some countries would require more than 1 time zone, such as the US and Australia. Some countries – like India and China – only use 1 time zone

Every place on Earth is measured in terms of its distance east or west of the prime meridian (0°longitude) in Greenwich, London, United Kingdom. This is also the reference point for Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) with 1 hour per 15 degrees longitude
To find the time zone difference, divide the longitude in degrees by 15. For example at 150° West longitude, that’s 150° ÷ 15 = 10 hrs behind UTC.
At 75° E longitude, the time will be 5 hours ahead of UTC. E.g., at 11:00 a.m. local time, it will be 2:00 p.m., UTC+5. A number of different time zones are currently in use worldwide:
